It has been five years and fifteen editions of the only  intermediate school online paper on the Peninsula – the “Miraleste Marauder Times”.  Sadly, this edition will be the last.  I have loved working with our students teaching them about finding news, writing articles that not only interest them but interest and intrigue our readers.

To all the students that have chosen Journalism as their elective and contributed great work to our paper I  thank you immensely.  To the teachers, staff and parents that have supported the paper and the PTSA that has so generously paid for this platform – a huge thank you!

My sincere hope is that our students do not stop caring about the daily news, whether it be school news, sports news, international news etc,, and that through this experience they might challenge themselves further by taking Journalism in high school and beyond.

I’ve always loved Joseph Pulitzer’s quote when speaking of journalism,  “Put it before them briefly so they will read it, clearly so they will appreciate it, picturesquely so they will remember it and above all accurately so they will be guided by its light”.

I believe our students have done just that – They have shown us the world through their eyes, succinctly, clearly and accurately.

I am proud to say that as their teacher I truly was and always will be – guided by their light.

Thank you to all,

Mrs. Leibfried
