Everyone at Miraleste has been to the library. Whether it was with your language arts teacher or at lunch with your friends the library is a great place to find any book you could possibly need. Our library is amazing and as students we don’t take this for granted. There are around thirty thousand books in the library, and fifteen thousand of those are in circulation each year! But our library would not be as successful as it is without the help of Ms. Edelstein, our librarian! Ms. Edelstein has a Masters Degree in Journalism and began as a volunteer at a local library. She knew the MIS Principal at the time and was offered a job as our librarian. So, she took it and is still here today keeping the library organized and helping kids find books they will love.

As a child Ms.Edelstein was an avid reader and liked to read books by Judy Blume. Today she still reads up to three books at a time. One of them is called The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas. When looking for books to further fill our majestic library, Ms.Edelstein looks for related authors, the book reviews, continuation of a book’s series, best sellers and takes recommendations from the students. Often, she will place orders for around $800 worth of books. She says that if a new book is soon to be at Barnes & Noble it will most likely be at our Miraleste  Library soon after.

When kids don’t love reading and can’t find a book Ms.Edelstein recommends finding topics that student’s are interested in.  Such as hobbies, personal favorites, books that student’s have liked in the past and what topic a student might find  exciting. But what ifyou are looking for a very specific book but you can’t remember the title, well our Ms. Edelstein can help you find it! If she doesn’t recognize the description she uses an application called the Book Seer.  With this program  she can input the information a student may have on the book.

Thank you Ms. Edelstein!
