A volcano isolated by 65 miles in dense Bali, Indonesia, known as Mount Agung had been seen for miles because of the ash and thick smoke pouring from the volcano. With a 3,031 meter elevation, it is the highest point in Bali, but this is not the first time this volcano has scared people with eruption. In 1843, there was an eruption that no deaths had been recorded. Whereas between 1963-64 there were 1,100-1,500 deaths reported. But of course the 2017 eruption there are more ways to prevent casualties the airports in Bali were reopened on November 29th after being closed on November 27th because of the spread of volcanic ash. Nearly 100,000 people had been put under an evacuation order and from September nearly 40,000 had been displaced.

However,  the Bali volcano was truly making headlines because of the effects on climate change it will have. For those who don’t know climate change is associated with global warming which can not truly affect the whole world, whereas, climate change can because of the drop and rise of global temperatures. Climate change also affects the Arctic because of the melting of ice caps. The melting of the ice caps is also raising the global ocean level.  This will all be affected by the Bali Volcano which can lower global temperatures by 0.2 degrees.  This is due to the sulfur dioxide release that mixes with the water in the air and produces water droplets that can linger for up to a year in the atmosphere.
