In Washington D.C. there is a museum known as The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.  In  Los Angeles we have a museum known as The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust (The LA MOTH). Both of these museums bring remembrance and hope that future generations will stand up for beliefs. The LA MOTH was founded by a group of Holocaust survivors who had hoped to carry remembrance and honor those who were not as fortunate to escape the Holocaust. On October 14, 2010, the LA MOTH officially opened its Pan Pacific Park. The LA MOTH is open Monday through Thursday (10 AM-5 PM), Friday (10 AM-2 PM) and Saturday through Sunday (10 AM-5 Pm). Admission is free to the LA MOTH and you can go any day and experience the history that is recorded inside.

The idea of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C. began in 1979 and soon as part of past President Jimmy Carter’s Presidents Commission on the Holocaust. Soon with the help of the Holocaust survivor and author Elie Wiesel, the President Jimmy Carter established the Holocaust Memorial Council who were in charge of establishing the museum. The museum’s doors are still open after officially having opening ceremonies on April 22, 1993. The museum is open every day from 10 AM to 5:15 PM. Tickets are needed from March 1 to August 31 but are free except for a one dollar transportation fee. The ticket gives you access to all three levels of the museum.  In order to grow as a society, country and world it is important that remember our past and history, so that in many cases history does not repeat itself.
