Have you heard about the Broadway hit musical “Hamilton”? “Hamilton” has been on Broadway for almost two years, and has attracted people all over the world. “Hamilton” takes place from 1776 to 1804 and is mainly about Alexander Hamilton, one of our Founding Fathers. This Musical follow’s Hamilton’s life, starting from his political beginning, all the way until his death. “Hamilton” has won 11 Tony Awards, the Pulitzer Prize, a Grammy for Best Musical Theater album, 11 Broadway.com Audience Awards, 8 Drama desk Awards, and numerous other awards.

“I like ‘Hamilton’ because of the amazing the music itself and the fact that, not only is it a good musical, it is also teaching us about history”, states Natasha Stein, a Hamilton fanatic. Although Hamilton is supposed to provide a lot of information about American history, is it 100% historically accurate? Mrs. Kennedy, an 8th grade U.S. History teacher, states that “Hamilton” is extremely accurate since it was inspired by the biography of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. Mrs. Kennedy adds, “It is at least 90% accurate.”

There is some information that is altered in “Hamilton”. For instance, the character “Angelica” states in the song “Satisfied” that her father had no sons, but in reality he did have one son. Additionally, during the duel between George Eacker and Philip Hamilton (Alexander Hamilton’s son), in the musical, it only took two and a half minutes, but in reality it took seven minutes. All in all, Hamilton is a one of a kind musical that will continue to spread information about American History.
